l’escargot introduces l’escarGOAT

A warm Angus welcome from us, Jillian and Neil McEwan of Lunan Bay Farm. We’re really exciting to be working with Fred again. This time, showcasing our pasture-fed Lunan Bay goat meat. Back in 2019, we started supplying Fred with our Lunan Bay asparagus. In May-June, we deliver our seasonal, Scottish spears straight to l’escargot within 6 hours of hand-cutting, which guarantees an asparagus experience like no other - the freshest  asparagus combined with L’Escargot unique culinary flair!

Eco-Goats

Back in 2016, we introduced goats onto our farm (the first livestock on the farm for over 50 years) as part of a completely new approach to farming for us termed: regenerative agriculture. Using this holistic approach to natural farming, we produce nutrient-dense food, bridging the gap between consumers and producers, to increase biodiversity, enrich our soils and lower our carbon footprint.

Goats are the masters of regenerative agriculture. They selectively browse for invasive plants that other livestock ignore, naturally eradicating them and converting these plants into highly nutritious protein. Our goats also enjoy free-ranging at our beachside paddocks, foraging gorse, herbs and other coastal plants at our stunning seaside location on Lunan Bay.

All of our 150+ goats were born and naturally raised outside, by us on our farm. We breed the crème de la crème of goat meat breeds, Boer, and combine with the hardiness of the Scottish Cashmere breed, of which we have the largest herd in Scotland. Our busy kidding season starts mid-Feb (we’re expecting 159 newborns!), so do follow us on social media for live footage of our kids in handknitted goat coats.

Healthy & Sustainable

Goats have a lower carbon footprint than many other livestock, and their meat has a higher nutritional value with less cholesterol than chicken, beef, pork, or lamb. Flavour wise, our goat meat is unique, so I encourage you all to experience Fred’s creation on this week’s takeaway menu. It’s the end of our season, so don’t miss this unique opportunity!
